Mauritius Equity Markets | 28 Aug 2015 : Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity trading ended in red … investors US$12 million down
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity trading ended today’s trading session by losing a market capitalization of MUR 465 million (US$ 12.3 million) to end at MUR 214.816 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 215.281 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) sagged by 0.22 percent or 4.17 points to close at 1,929.00 points and SEM10 index ended at 368.06 points after sliding by 0.15 percent or 0.54 points.
The overall total volume trade ended at 4.313 million (a rise relative to volume of 3.933 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 47.001 million (a rise relative to MUR 16.299 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 2.489 million (about 58 percent of total volume) at MUR 2.091 million and New Mauritius Hotels registered 699,329 traded stocks amounted to MUR 12.938 million. CIM Financials had 588,024 stocks at MUR 4.928 million and CIEL Limited recorded a total volume of 264,800 shares at MUR 1.803 million. MCB Group also recorded 87,160 shares at MUR 18.240 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 22 traded securities there were 2 price gainers and 8 losers. Mauritius Development Investment Trust emerged as the top gainer by gaining 1.53 percent to end at MUR 5.30 and CIEL Limited ended at MUR 6.80 after surging by 0.89 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was CIM Financial Services with a price reduction of 4.33 percent to trade at MUR 8.40 and Rogers & Co Limited sagged by 1.18 percent to conclude at MUR 29.20. B Mare Holdings sagged by 1.04 percent to end at MUR 28.50. ENL Land Limited settled at MUR 0.50 after plunging by MUR 0.25 or 0.50 percent and Terra went down by 0.34 to settle at MUR 29.50.
The DEMEX index ended at 204.76 points after sagged by 0.88 points or 0.43 percent. The market capitalization went down by MUR 209 million to close at MUR 48.664 (relative to MUR 48.873 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 25.682 million exchanged in 312,124 traded securities. ENL Limited (Preference) gained 1.69 percent to end at MUR 29.00 and Medine Limited closed at MUR 65.00 after gaining 1.52 percent.
